August 29 marks the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. That disaster displaced hundreds of thousands of Americans along the Gulf Coast and caused more than $ 100 billion in damage.
The Office of the National Insurance Crime (NICB), the premier nonprofit nation dedicated exclusively to the fight against insurance fraud and crime, remembers Hurricane Katrina with a video series in five games. It includes memories first hand NICB staff and enforcement personnel of the law as they reflect on their role in the wake of the costliest natural disaster in America.
One of the biggest challenges for the team was to identify and catalog the 300,000 damaged vehicles left in the wake of the storm. Their work highlights the importance of VINCheck, a free service of the NICB which helps consumers find out if a vehicle sale was once damaged by floodwaters.
See the first video in the series for more on destructive side-- Mother Nature and the good that can happen when people work together.
