Graduation Presents on a Budget - TaxACT

Do you know someone who currently is a graduate soon?

Well guess what? This means that you better save up your pennies, because you'll need to buy a gift for their open house.

I know I know, gifts never end. It is wedding gifts, baby shower gifts, graduation gifts, birthdays, Christmas, and if you are part of the clan Costanza, you may even have to buy a gift for Festivus.

All these gifts can certainly add up to a big chunk of change, but really, they do not need.

Nobody asks you to donate $ 100 to all causes, so do not feel you have to do!

instead, it could be more useful to get creative with your gifts.

propose to slideshow

do you know what is going on forever and is one of the last things any parent or child wants to do? It is the slide show of their lives.

Of course, it usually comes together at the end and looks great, but it's a ton of time to spend on something that is considered one night and could not be seen for another 10+ years!

instead of getting the student an ordinary gift, perhaps you could offer to help with the slideshow.

So, you not only show typical pictures of them growing up, but you can also put your point of view too.

If you are incredibly proud of this young man or lady, express that in a story in the video. Let the student know how much impact they have had on you in the past, how their impact on those around them in the present, and how much of a success that they will be in the future.

now would be a lasting gift. All donated heart remembers more easily than something that comes in a box.

Pool Your money Together

One of the best gifts you can give a student a laptop (if they do not already have one that is). If they head to college in the near future, this laptop would be helpful.

Of course, you would not expect to buy this with only your money. Instead, the pool of a large group of people to make the purchase.

The graduate student will certainly be grateful, and it will not even come close to breaking the bank for you.

Provide Services

If you are close enough with that bound student, maybe instead of giving them a traditional gift, you could promise them some services as do their laundry every two weeks.

I know when I am a student, I would have liked to have someone pick up my laundry and do it for me!

But if you are not quite as close, perhaps you could let them know that you intend to bake cookies or a cake once a month.

Heck, if it is not a big hit with the student, I'm sure their roommates would not mind!

Just be creative and think about what they might really like, not just what traditional gifts.

I'm sure you can come up with something that is truly unique and will be enjoyed by many students, even though it is not a purchase of big-ticket

have -you non-traditional gift ideas
