Car accidents are the leading cause of death among children aged 1 to 13 years. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that three-four parents do not properly use child restraints - and in 2011, more than a third of children under 13 who died in passenger accidents vehicles in 2011 were not in the seats or safety belts. Yet research shows that the proper use of seat belts and saves lives.
