According to the US Office of Management staff, the premium group health insurance for federal employees health program benefits will increase by an average of 8 percent for 09, reported Washington post .

for certain federal employees, premiums will increase by as much as 13 percent, wrote the article post.

Why these large premium increases?

Nancy Kichak, associate director for strategic human resources policy in the Office of Personnel Management, said the blame technology and medical inflation. Others blamed a slow movement to generic drugs by the insured.

Anyway, it was not good news for federal employees.

"These premium increases continue to eat in the portfolios of federal employees. Something must be done to keep these increases in check," said the president of the National Federation of Federal Employees, Richard N. Brown .

This could be bad news for the health insurance plan of Democratic candidate Barack Obama. Senator Obama would pave the federal health plan for all Americans.
