The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety reports that more people die in motor vehicle accidents on Independence day than any other day of the year. (New Year's Day is a close second). Why? Motorcycles and two alcohol contribute to the trend.
The statistics also show that motorcyclists themselves are most at risk.
If you ride this weekend, ride safely and take the road less (aka, avoid the highway). And if you ride or drive or even staying home this holiday, remember these safety tips:
On the road:
- Don 't drink and drive. It is simply not worth it.
- Wear a helmet
- Drive the speed limit
- Keep distractions to a minimum

- Use sparklers safely
- obey the laws of the State fireworks
- Party with a plan to keep everyone safe (and happy)
