The Ministry of Health and Social Services (HHS) has three months to launch a website that provides health insurance options state by state. HHS has only 60 days to standardize information on the cost of premiums and insurance coverage options for voters online.
The HHS has no easy task ahead of them. They will consult each state and create a website. It is unclear whether HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will hire a private firm to handle the job, or operate in the HHS.
The website portal will be implemented by each State when health insurance exchanges are effective in 2014. But until then, a site will be available for this confusion and to facilitate the provision of resources to help consumers of health care in America make informed decisions.
According to The Hill , the federal government has had a difficult time in the past launched websites in periods of little time. When the White House launched Recovery.gov last February, he took the rest of the year for federal officials to resolve problems with the site.
An HHS spokesperson said: "One of our main goals in passing the law was to increase transparency and health-care accountability and to ensure that consumers have the information they need about their rights and their benefits. This website is an important part of our strategy and we work hard to ensure that we respect the law. "
It will be interesting to see how the government Medicare web portal will compare to that of GoHealthInsurance.com.
