House May Pass Senate Bill on health insurance with Deem and Pass Rule -

U.S. House Chamber There have been much discussion about how the Senate draft health insurance law will be passed this week in the House. Speaker Nancy Pelosi may not have to collect the votes for the Senate draft law. Speaker Pelosi said yesterday that she can adopt the bill without having members vote on it with the rule "consider and pass."

According to The Washington Post , the rule " consider and pass "would allow members of the House to vote on the popular package of fixes to the Senate bill, but not really voting on the bill of the unpopular Senate. In the House, if the vote for the hotfix package is passed, then it means that the legislators of the House "deem" the Senate draft health insurance law passed.

This type of decision was used in the House, but not for such a draft law bulky and expensive.

"There's more insider and that most people want to know process-oriented. But I like it because people should not vote on the Senate bill," said Pelosi said the president.

Speaker Pelosi said she could also use two other ways to pass the proposed Senate health care bill but prefers the rule "consider and pass." The rule protects legislators who will not publicly support the bill that could politically assist legislators in the coming elections.

The use of this type of procedure to adopt the health insurance plan of the Senate may be promoted by the Democrats but the result will most likely be in a tumult of opponents of the bill.
