Celebrate Small Business Saturday -

In the wake of Black Friday ads promoting sales in the stores of the national chain, it is easy to forget your local small business.

And that's too bad for small business gives a big boost to the economy. The Small Business Administration reports that small businesses accounted for 64 percent of new jobs created between 1993 and 2011. Cart to a small pump business also two to three times more money in the local economy than shopping at a chain store. (It is especially beneficial to the local store regarding these seven types of businesses.)

A great time to show your support for small businesses is on Small Business Saturday®. Shoppers today are encouraged to support the owners of small local businesses in their community by "small purchases Saturday after Thanksgiving."

This season, remember the people who run the Main Street businesses in your city. Stop in a local gift shop, have lunch in a local restaurant or buy a crown of this third-generation flower shop.
